Common Questions
Let us address some questions we often hear from clients about our consulting services and approach.
I’m running a complex agricultural operation. How can you help with our unique electrical challenges?
We have spent over three decades working with everything from greenhouse operations to grain storage facilities.
Take our work with Worldwide Satter Flowers – we handled their entire electrical setup, from computer-controlled roof ventilation to irrigation systems.
Or the grain storage facilities we’ve built in Namibia, where we had to integrate conveyor systems, aerating fans, and temperature monitoring.
What we have learned is that every agricultural operation has its own quirks, and that’s exactly what makes this work interesting.
Recent projects include computer-controlled climate systems for Siyalima Boerdery and complete electrical systems for multiple AMTA grain storage facilities.
We operate across multiple African countries. Can you handle projects outside South Africa?
Absolutely. we’ve actually done extensive work across Southern Africa.
We’ve completed major projects in Namibia (multiple grain storage facilities), Botswana (greenhouse complexes), and throughout South Africa.
Each country has its own challenges – different regulations, power supply characteristics, even climate considerations – but that’s where our cross-border experience really comes in handy.
Examples include the Fabulous Flowers project in Botswana and multiple National Strategic Food Reserve facilities across Namibia.
How do you handle power quality issues and unreliable supply in rural areas?
This is something we deal with regularly, especially in agricultural settings.
We’ve got several approaches, depending on your specific situation. For critical operations, we often implement generator backup systems – we’ve installed everything from 40kVA to 500kVA units.
We also do power factor correction and can set up VSDs with pressure transducer feedback for sensitive equipment.
It’s about creating robust systems that keep running even when conditions aren’t ideal.
Recent examples include 500kVA generator installations at Worldwide Satter Flowers and Siyalima Boerdery, plus VSD installations ranging from 18kW to 75kW at various sites.
What’s your approach to system automation and control?
We started working with computerised climate and irrigation control systems back in the Netherlands, and I’ve been implementing and adapting these systems ever since.
Whether it’s greenhouse environmental controls, grain handling systems, or production lines, we focus on creating reliable automation that your team can actually work with.
We’ve done everything from simple motor controls to complex integrated systems with multiple feedback loops.
Examples include automated climate control systems for greenhouse operations and conveyor control systems for grain storage facilities.
We’re expanding our operation. How can you help us plan for future growth?
This is where our experience with long-term projects really helps. We’ve worked with many clients through multiple phases of growth.
For instance, we’ve helped clients like Hadeco expand from basic setups to comprehensive electrical systems over the years.
When we design new installations, we always consider future capacity needs and plan the infrastructure accordingly.
Documented growth projects include multiple facility expansions for Hadeco from 2003 onwards, including warehouse, cold room, and high-voltage installations.
What about maintenance and ongoing support?
We believe in building systems that last, and that means being there for the long haul.
Many of our earliest clients still work with us today.
We can help set up maintenance schedules, train your team on proper system operation, and provide ongoing support as needed.
The goal is to keep your systems running efficiently and prevent problems before they occur.
We maintain ongoing relationships with multiple clients, including long-term partnerships with agricultural and industrial operations across Southern Africa.
